I know I really just need a new DVR but I wish this one would just work right.More cameras are available to buy than ever before, whether you're opting into a professionally monitored security system or a DIY alternative. I've tried Zosi tech support, but it was useless. I know this might seem vague, but I don't have the model numbers in front of me right now. Has anyone had this issue before? I've tried port forwarding on my router, but it didn't help. Besides all the app crashes and the poorly designed software, I could live with this system if I could get playback to work remotely. I know it is there, as I can view it directly from the DVR, but when I try to view it with the app, even if I'm on my home network, it says there is no video found. Using the Zosi Smart (lol) app, I can view live video remotely just fine most of the time (except when the app randomly crashes), but I have not once ever been able to view playback video remotely. While obviously not top quality, the system works ok, until I try to view playback video remotely on my phone.

Hobbyist: Video surveillance isn't your job. You won't get plates off of moving cars without a significant investment. Speaking of plate reading, be realistic as you balance your goals and your budget.
